The Next Generation

We had Children's Day at our church a few weeks ago. The kids helped us by leading worship and did a really great drama.

One thing that really stood out to me is that our children are the next generation of leaders in our society. It is really up to us as parents to bring up the next generation.

The verse that stands out is:
Deu 6:4-7 (NIV) Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. 5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

It's a charge to parents and the church family to bring up the next generation in the Lord:
These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

Life Goals

Grace and I were talking the other day about a TV program she saw about time management. However, instead of the typical stuff such as coming up w/ a list of tasks, prioritizing the tasks, etc., it talked life goals.

It suggested defining five goals that you want to accomplish in your life time. I don't have five yet, but here are my three:
1. Being the spiritual leader of my family - loving my wife as Christ loved the church and gave himself for her (Eph 5:25-27), to make wise decisions w/ counsel, and to care for and lead my family in a way that pleases God.

2. To excel at my job, whether in the tech industry or whatever the future holds.

3. To influence people for Christ by sharing God's love w/ them and letting them know about good news about what Christ did for them and how they can be right before God.

My First Day

All Things

I choose the name "All Things" for two reasons:
1. Phil 4:13 - I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. As we go through the seasons of our life, there are many things - big and small - that we go through and have to make wise decisions about. Phil 4:13 really reflects my core belief that we must rely on Christ and the wisdom and strength that He gives to make it through life.

2. The name reminds me of a NPR show called "All Things Considered". I believe that one of the most important things to do is to make wise decisions as we go through life. Through this blog, I'd like to document the major growing experiences and lessons I've learned.
